Matt Langston is the man behind The Jellyrox, an electronic-pop project out of North Carolina. When he isn’t getting people on their feet and dancing with his music, he is supporting others that do. Rock Candy Recordings is a record label Langston runs with the help of family and friends.
On October 30th, The Jellyrox released a full length album through Rock Candy Recordings titled, Bang and Whimper. Ten songs long and guaranteed to get any party started, Bang and Whimper is electro-pop at its best. Lyrically the album tells the tales of being in love while being broke (check the song, “Lower Class Love”) and enough youthful indiscretions to make any listener nostalgic for their younger days. Unless of course, you are already smack dab in your “younger days” then you’ll be able to enjoy the album while committing said indiscretions.
One listen to the album will be enough to convince anyone that Langston knows his way around a groovy dance song. Peruse the lyrics provided on The Jellyrox website (On behalf of everyone at Wordkrapht, thank you!!) And you will see there are stories, messages and many poetic sentiments being expressed alongside the upbeat tracks. Bang and Whimper is music with meaning, masterfully combined.
The artwork for Bang and Whimper was done by Julie Armbruster. There is a behind the scenes video where Armbruster discusses the inspiration behind the artwork on the Rock Candy Recording homepage.
